Hilton CSD 2010-11 Teacher of the Year
is Greg Booth, Quest Elementary REACH/technology teacher
Quest Elementary School
REACH/technology teacher Greg Booth is that rare
person who embodies both the human relations and
communication skills of an outstanding educator, but
also the hands-on technical skills needed to
correctly choose and manage electronic learning
tools. This year his colleagues recognized his
exceptional skill in the classroom naming him
2010-11 Teacher of the Year.
 
The Hilton Central Schools Teachers
Association [HCSTA] 2010-11 selection of the Hilton Teacher
of the Year was presented on September 7, 2010 at the annual
staff convocation at Hilton High School. Mr. Booth was
honored for his ability to “deal with the whole child,” to
help make “all students feel smart and talented” and his
“calm and happy demeanor.”
Among the accolades: Mr. Booth “leads
by example” and “helps every child connect with learning.”
In accepting his award, Mr. Booth paid tribute to his late
mentor, former Quest Elementary teacher and founder, Darrel
Dupra, as a “friend and inspiration.”
Mr. Booth has a degree in Environmental
Biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and
Forestry in Syracuse as well as a MS in Science Education
from Syracuse University. He has taught for 10 years in the
Hilton School District. As teacher of gifted and talented
REACH students and an instructional technology specialist,
he works to help students become independent problem solvers
who produce and perform through projects and inquiry-based
learning.
