Hilton HS Advanced Media Design students
finalists in RIT Publishing Competition
Eight students in Hilton High School
Art Department's Advanced Digital Media class submitted
designs this year for the annual "Young
Professionals in Publishing Competition" held by the
Rochester Institute of Technology School of Print Media.
The contest required students to create the design of a
16-page document plus cover using Adobe InDesign page
layout software. Four of the students have been named
finalists: Christina Jones, Kurt Kazmierczak, Gina Sacino,
image of cover at right,
and Carolyn Voldan. Also submitting designs were:
Christina Lodato, Christopher Mumpton, Miranda Nickel and
Brandon Weiss.
"The students developed and designed
their concept as well as applied their design to the
appropriate technology in order to prepare it for
submission," said Digital Media teacher at Hilton HS
Christine Ver Weire. "Although the entire class
participated in the project, there were eight students that
reached completion and specifications in time. Out of our
eight submissions, four of our Hilton High School students
placed in the ten top finalist spots nationwide. We
are very proud of them and all of the students that worked
so hard at this massive task. We are waiting to hear back
on the Grand Prize winner"
According to RIT, up to 10 finalists
were selected from the entries by the faculty. Each
finalist will receive 25 color copies of a publication
produced by the School of Print Media. One grand prize
winner will be selected from the 10 finalists. The
Grand Prize will be 3,000 color copies of the publication as
well as Adobe Lightroom software, a scanner, and a
Canon
Rebel XT camera for the advisor.
