Hilton High School announces Business Management CTE Program approval by NY State Education Department

Hilton High School Principal Brian Bartalo has announced that Hilton students will now be able to earn a five-credit Business Management Career and Technical Education [CTE] endorsement on a Regents Diploma following accreditation from the New York State Education Department this month.

"We are happy to announce that Hilton High School has received final approval from the State Education Department for a Career and Technical Education [CTE] sequence in Business Management," Mr. Bartalo said. "The CTE endorsement is valuable because it indicates that a student has completed a more rigorous program of studies in Business Management. CTE programs are another avenue, in addition to Hilton High School's International Baccalaureate and advanced placement examinations, offering Hilton students the opportunity to challenge themselves in preparation for the next step in their education."

Business Management CTE Courses

"What makes the program more rigorous is that in addition to completing a state approved five-course sequence in business education, students must complete a work experience component, prepare and present a portfolio of their work, and pass a nationally accredited exam in Business Management," said Hilton High School Business/Technology/Family & Consumer Science Program Coordinator Gary Buchholz. "State approval for this CTE was initiated under the leadership of Deborah Godlove, retired Program Coordinator for the Business/FACS/Technology departments, who completed an extensive self-study process. This involved teachers from the Business and English departments, building level and district level administrators, a representative from the Board of Education, area business leaders, and community members. State approval gives the High School permission to grant the CTE endorsement for five years before undergoing a review and re-certification process."

Students will take a five-credit sequence: Career and Financial Management; Principles of Marketing; Business Analysis/Business Computer Applications; Accounting and Technical Reading and Writing [5 credits]. BUSINESS COURSES AT Hilton High School

Hilton High School students may also earn a CTE in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and Pre-Engineering.
