Among the presentations includes a new
International Baccalaureate course in the Business
Department which explores the global impact of information
technology on society according to teacher Theresa Jasen.
"The focus of ITGS is to study of the impact of Information
Technology (IT) on individuals, on businesses, and on
society," she said. "Through lecture, hands-on
activities, and outside connections, ITGS Students explore
the advantages and disadvantages of IT in a digital world. "
The full year course will examine: IT Systems; Areas of
Impact; and Social\Ethical Significance according to teacher
Ms. Jasen. "In an effort to bring the world of information
technology into the classroom, ITGS students are afforded
the opportunity to explore IT through the eyes of business
and industry in the Greater Rochester area by way of field
trip experience and guest speakers in the classroom," she
added. "Recently the class traveled to Strong National
Museum of Play to investigate the History of Electronic
Gaming exhibit as part of a unit which explored the
evolution of video gaming and had opportunity to meet with
and discuss, with the exhibits curator, its social impact on
society. After visiting the museum, students brought their
own gaming systems into the classroom for a hands-on
opportunity to play and learn from each other in their own
particular areas of interest and expertise." IB ITGS is open
to juniors and seniors. A student need not be an IB
candidate to enroll. Interested students are encouraged to
speak with Ms. Jasen, in the Business Loft, to learn more,
