Voting Requirements
Voting Requirements
Hilton district residents must be registered voters with
Monroe County Board of Elections or with the District [five
business days before vote] in
order to be eligible to vote.

Qualifications to vote are:
- be a US citizen
- be 18 years old by December 31 of
the year in which you file the form
- be 18 years old by the date of
the election you wish to vote in
- live at your present address at
least 30 days before an election
- not be in jail or on parole for a
felony conviction
- not claim to right to vote
elsewhere.
Absentee ballots are
available at the District Clerk's office, 225 West Ave.,
Hilton; ballots must be received by the
District Clerk at least seven days prior to the vote if the
ballot is to be mailed to the voter. Completed applications
are examined and reviewed by the District Clerk. Walk-in returns of completed ballots must be at the
District Clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m. on the day of
the vote. Absentee Voting Qualifications
are: unavoidable absent from your county on day of vote;
unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability;
a patient in a Veterans' Administration Hospital; detained
in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison
after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

Are you registered to vote in New York State?
What if I Move?--If
you are already registered, your change of address must be
received by the Board of Elections by October 15th to vote
in the General Election. You can do this by filling out a
new Voter Registration Form. If you move within your county
and cannot notify your board of elections, you can go to the
polling place for your new address and vote by affidavit
ballot. What is an Affidavit Ballot?
An Affidavit Ballot is a paper ballot and it is
used when a voter's name has been omitted from the computer
generated pollbook. The voter must swear that they are a
registered voter and provide current and previous address.
