Board Yearly Activities

Budget Vote:  Budget Vote and Board Election - Budget Profile   Voters in the Hilton Central School District approved the $68.5 million Budget by a vote of 869 – 321 on May 19, 2009 at the annual Budget Vote and Board Election. The $650,000 bus purchase proposition was also passed by a vote of 817 – 347.   Incumbents returned to Board of Education for three-year terms were: Daniel Wellington with 945 votes, current Board President, and Robert Prorok with 892 votes. 
Board of Education Goals:  To foster relationships with our stakeholders; to assess programs, initiatives and business practices to achieve excellence; and to promote and develop leadership qualities at all levels of the organization. Approved March 10, 2009
Voting in District Elections and Budget Vote:  Voting Requirements  You must be a registered voter through Monroe County Board of Elections to vote in Hilton Central School District elections, budget and bond votes.
To become a Board Candidate:  Nominating petitions may be filed with the Board Clerk 30 days before the May election. Qualifications to become a candidate for the board are: a district resident for at least one year prior to the election and a qualified voter (age 18).  Nominating petitions are obtained from the District Clerk, District Offices in the West Avenue Building, 225 West Ave., Hilton. Basic Financial Statement of the Hilton Central School District is available for public inspection from 8 am-4 pm in the Hilton CSD Business Office. The independent auditor's report is completed annually and submitted to the Board of Education for review at its regular meeting usually in early December. It contains an overview of the the district's financial activities including reconciliation statement of revenues, expenditures and changes in fund balances, etc.  For further information: 585-392-1000 ext. 7033.

STAR - NYS School Tax Relief Program  Renew Enhanced STAR application yearly by March 1; Enhanced STAR is for New York property owners 65 or older by the year's end, and not exceeding the income eligibility level ($74,700).  Enhanced STAR provides a tax exemption to help alleviate school property taxes. Income must be verified on an annual basis to prove eligibility. For most Monroe County residents, Enhanced STAR exempts the first $60,010 on property assessments for school taxes. Previous enrollees reapplying for Enhanced STAR can avoid the annual reapplication hassle by signing up for the STAR Income Verification program.
